SUPPLEMENT: NIH'S SEXUAL AND GENDER MINORITY RESEARCH INFRASTRUCTURE WAS DISMANTLED — DISTINCT FROM THE GRANT TERMINATIONS THE INDEX ALREADY COVERS

Summary

The SGMRO website at dpcpsi.nih.gov/sgmro was taken down on January 22, 2025 — two days after Executive Order 14168 ("Defending Women From Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government," signed Jan. 20, 2025; see also sections 1 and 12). The takedown removed the office's strategic plans, annual SGM research portfolio reports (FY2016–FY2023), the SGM health disparities research framework, SOGI measurement guidance, the 2022 NASEM report materials, training resources, and the descriptions and charges of the SGM Research Coordinating Committee and the Council of Councils SGM Research Working Group. Volunteers subsequently reconstructed the removed material at the unaffiliated mirror sgmresearch.com, which states the site preserves content from "the NIH's The Sexual & Gender Minority Research Office (SGMRO) website, which was taken down on January 22, 2025."

Status

In effect. A direct request to https://dpcpsi.nih.gov/sgmro on August 21, 2026 returned HTTP 404 Not Found. No NIH-hosted replacement exists. (Note: other dpcpsi.nih.gov paths return HTTP 403 to automated requests, so the 404 is reported as an observation rather than as conclusive proof of deletion; the takedown itself is independently sourced.)
