Summary

The FTC serves civil investigative demands (administrative subpoenas) on the World Professional Association for Transgender Health and the Endocrine Society, demanding decades of internal communications, educational materials, financial records, and member names in connection with the agency's inquiry into allegedly deceptive claims about gender-affirming care. The CIDs followed FTC Chair Andrew Ferguson's pledge to "fight back against the trans agenda" and the agency's 2025 workshop "The Dangers of 'Gender-Affirming Care' for Minors." (see also section 8)

Status

Enforcement preliminarily enjoined May 7–8, 2026 by Chief Judge James Boasberg (D.D.C.) in Endocrine Society v. FTC and WPATH v. FTC on First Amendment retaliation grounds; the court found "extensive evidence of animus."
