Summary

CDC confirmed it would stop processing transgender identity data across its surveillance portfolio to comply with EO 14168 — affecting the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (whose optional SOGI module had supplied most state-level transgender health data), the Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System, and National HIV Behavioral Surveillance Among Transgender Women — while stating sexual-orientation data would be processed "per usual protocols." SHADAC's tracker subsequently confirmed gender-identity data was removed from BRFSS data files and documentation beginning with the 2025 cycle.

Status

In effect. Gender identity absent from BRFSS files/documentation; YRBS transgender-identity item status unresolved publicly; sexual-orientation items retained.
