Summary
A final rule repeals the 2024 Title IX regulations, which defined sex discrimination to include sexual orientation and gender identity, and restores the pre-2024 regulatory text. The Department says the 2024 rule was preliminarily enjoined by eight courts and vacated in two (Jan. 9 and Feb. 19, 2025) and that it has not enforced it. The rule removes the gender-identity provisions from the CFR.
