Summary
DOJ ends its effort to obtain transgender patients' health records from a California children's hospital, a retrenchment after three district courts (D. Mass., W.D. Wash., E.D. Pa.) quashed similar administrative subpoenas in late 2025 as issued for improper purpose. In the same period DOJ withdrew its Third Circuit appeal of the order quashing the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia subpoena, while continuing enforcement efforts in other venues. (see also section 3)
Status
California administrative-subpoena effort ended; DOJ's broader campaign continued via new grand-jury subpoenas (see 2026-05-13 entry) and appeals.
