Summary

Racing the OPM deadline, agencies removed or altered thousands of pages and datasets. At CDC, removals included BRFSS and YRBS data files, questionnaires, and codebooks; the AtlasPlus interactive tool (15 years of HIV, viral hepatitis, STD, and TB surveillance); historical HIV surveillance reports; HIV-prevention and LGBTQ-health topic pages; the Social Vulnerability Index and Environmental Justice Index; and NIAID's "HIV Language Guide." Census Household Pulse Survey files disappeared from FTP downloads; PEPFAR data dashboards, USAID's entire website, foreignassistance.gov, and the USAID-supported DHS international survey databases went offline. Contemporary analyses counted at least ~146 datasets removed from data.cdc.gov and well over 1,000 CDC pages affected; some pages returned February 1-2 bearing the banner "CDC's website is being modified to comply with President Trump's Executive Orders." The Williams Institute documented that within 10 days of January 20, BRFSS/YRBS datasets, Household Pulse data, and years of HIV/AIDS monitoring results had been deleted.

Status

Largely restored by court order (TRO Feb. 11, 2025; vacatur and restoration order July 3, 2025; final compliance report Dec. 12, 2025 covering the flagged sites). However, restoration applied to defendant HHS-family agencies and identified pages; underlying data-collection changes (below) persist, and some non-party content was never restored.
