Summary
The Global Equality Fund — the roughly $25 million public-private mechanism, administered through the Special Envoy's office and DRL, that funded LGBTQI+ civil-society organizations abroad — was ended following Secretary Rubio's foreign-assistance review, and its program page was removed from the live State Department website, surviving only on the 2021-2025 archive. The Department stated that programs "not advancing President Trump's priorities were terminated." The Fund was the Special Envoy office's principal programmatic instrument, so its termination and the office's closure are two halves of the same withdrawal. (See also sections 9 and 12.)
Status
Terminated; not restored. Reporting through mid-2026 describes no successor mechanism for LGBTQI+ human-rights programming at State.
