Summary
The Kennedy Center's four-day "Tapestry of Pride" slate for WorldPride 2025, scheduled June 5–8, is dismantled. Programming that had been planned for the federal campus — a display of panels from the AIDS Memorial Quilt, a Pride reading room, and a family-friendly drag story hour — is moved to the WorldPride Welcome Center in the Chinatown/Gallery Place neighborhood. Capital Pride Alliance deputy director June Crenshaw said, "We are a resilient community, and we have found other avenues to celebrate ... but the fact that we have to maneuver in this way is disappointing." Capital Pride Alliance formally disassociated itself from the Kennedy Center. A separately produced family event scheduled for June 8 was also cancelled.
Status
Relocation stands. No Kennedy Center Pride programming has been restored; Capital Pride Alliance has not resumed its partnership.
