Summary
Implementing the executive orders, the Naval Academy eliminated its "Gender Matters" leadership course and a "Gender Sexuality Studies" English course, among other curriculum purges; academies declined to disclose how many transgender cadets and midshipmen were enrolled or how they would be processed, with West Point citing pending litigation. Subsequent service policies rescinded academy offers of admission for transgender applicants (Army/West Point) and directed that cadets at commissioning sources with gender dysphoria be disenrolled and discharged (Air Force). Nearly 300 academy alumni signed an open letter supporting transgender cadets, calling their service "in no way incompatible."
Status
Disenrollment/rescission policies in effect through 2025; treatment of academy cadets as members of the certified Talbott class (accession-seekers after Jan. 28, 2025) unresolved as of August 2026.
