Summary

Directs the Secretary of Education to begin closing the Department of Education. Its funding condition embeds the anti-trans framework into all remaining federal education money: the Secretary must ensure allocation of any Department funds requires that recipients "terminate illegal discrimination obscured under the label 'diversity, equity, and inclusion' or similar terms and programs promoting gender ideology." EO number 14242; 90 FR 13679 (Mar. 25, 2025).

Status

In effect as to the funding-condition language; the department-dismantlement and reduction-in-force program was separately litigated (Supreme Court stay allowing RIFs, July 14, 2025) (see section 5).
