Summary

Within hours of the inauguration and the signing of EO 14168, LGBTQ+-related resources were deleted across federal websites, including White House pages. On January 22, 2025, the State Department took offline its webpage explaining how to update the sex marker on a U.S. passport, contemporaneous with suspension of X-marker and marker-change applications (see section 6). These removals preceded — and previewed — the formal OPM takedown directive of January 29.

Status

Content not restored; passport policy litigation proceeded separately in Orr v. Trump (see sections 6 and 10).
