Summary

Judge Failla issues a 14-day temporary restraining order blocking DOJ from obtaining, via the Northern District of Texas grand jury, medical records of transgender patients who received gender-affirming care as minors from New York providers. The court finds the administration's policies "embody a concerted effort to obtain deeply private information about an entire class of individuals without their knowledge or consent" and that the administration sought to "identify, to demonise, and ultimately to eradicate an entire population of transgender people." A preliminary-injunction hearing was set for July 8, 2026. (see also sections 3, 10)

Status

Subpoena enforcement blocked as of the TRO; follow-on preliminary-injunction proceedings in S.D.N.Y.
