Summary

ED and DOJ announced a joint "Title IX Special Investigations Team" (SIT) of investigators and attorneys from both agencies to apply a "rapid resolution investigation process" to the "staggering volume" of Title IX complaints and to protect "female athletes from the pernicious effects of gender ideology." Structurally, it pre-integrates DOJ into OCR investigations so that findings arrive litigation-ready - collapsing the traditional separation between administrative enforcement and court referral (see section 3).

Status

Operating; SIT-badged investigations include Washington OSPI (Apr. 2025), Jefferson County CO (June 2025), and the California Community College Athletic Association (Jan. 2026).
