Summary

Richard Grenell steps down as president of the Kennedy Center after a thirteen-month tenure during which the Center's Pride and LGBTQ programming was eliminated, its Social Impact department was dissolved, and dozens of artists withdrew. He remains involved as an unpaid consultant. Matt Floca, previously vice president of facilities operations, becomes chief operating officer and executive director. Playwright Harvey Fierstein publicly characterized Grenell as an "anti-LGBTQ+ self-loathing" figure who damaged the institution.
