Summary
ICE amended detention contracts to delete transgender-care obligations: the Buffalo (NY) Service Processing Center contract with Akima Global Services was modified in February 2025 to "rescind/remove all Transgender Care requirements"; the Broward Transitional Center (FL) contract with GEO Group and the Calhoun County (MI) intergovernmental service agreement were similarly amended in March 2025. The deleted provisions had required gender-identity-informed housing consideration, appropriate clothing and hygiene items, pronoun use, and access to transgender-related health care. The amendments did not cite EO 14168 but tracked its directives. (Contractor compliance generally: see section 13.)
Status
In effect; consistent with (and effectively codified by) the 2025 National Detention Standards.
