[Local Approval Received.] The Commonwealth of Massachusetts _______________ In the One Hundred and Ninety-First General Court (2019-2020) _______________ An Act relative to amending chapter 413 of the Acts of 1991 authorizing the city council of the city of Cambridge to amend chapter 14.04 of the Cambridge municipal code entitled "Fair Housing". Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1 SECTION 1.The City Council of the City of Cambridge is hereby authorized to amend 2 Chapter 14.04.010 through Chapter 14.04.090 of the Cambridge Municipal Code entitled “Fair 3 Housing” as follows: 4 Sections 5 14.04.010 Authority 6 14.04.020 Powers and duties of the Cambridge Human Rights Commission 7 14.04.030 Definitions 8 14.04.040 Unlawful practices 9 14.04.050 Complaint procedures 3 of 6 10 14.04.060 Remedies 11 14.04.070 Review of Commission’s decision; Enforcement of Commission’s order 12 14.04.080 Consistency 13 14.04.090 Severability 14 SECTION 2. Title 14 - FAIR HOUSING 15 14.04.010 Authority 16 Add “as amended” at the end of the sentence. 17 14.04.030 Definitions. 18 14.04.030 A In the third line replace the word “handicaps” with the word “disabilities”. 19 14.04.030 D In the fourth line add the words “gender identity” after the words “sexual 20 orientation”. 21 14.040.30 F Delete the definition of Disability and replace with the following: 22 "Disability" means a physical or mental impairment which substantially limits one or more of a 23 person’s major life activities, a record of having such impairment, or being regarded as having 24 such impairment.
