Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

Sec. 1. 20-A MRSA §13 is enacted to read:

§13. Participation in female interscholastic or intramural sports
4
Only a student of the female gender may join or participate in an interscholastic or
5
intramural athletic team or sports activity that is sponsored by an elementary or secondary
6
school or postsecondary institution and is designated for "females," "women" or "girls."

SUMMARY

This bill prohibits any student from joining or participating in an interscholastic or
9
intramural athletic team or sports activity sponsored by an elementary or secondary school
10
or postsecondary institution that is designated for "females," "women" or "girls" except for
11
students of the female gender.
