Summary

In Coe v. Blanche, No. 1:26-cv-04641 (S.D.N.Y., filed June 2, 2026), pseudonymous transgender minors and their families sued Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche and DOJ to stop enforcement of the Texas grand jury subpoenas against NYU Langone and other New York hospitals. Judge Failla entered a temporary restraining order on June 24, 2026 and then a preliminary injunction barring DOJ from obtaining the records. DOJ took an interlocutory appeal to the Second Circuit and moved to stay the injunction; on July 17, 2026 the court denied the stay, writing that DOJ sought "a complete subversion of the Court's decision to grant the preliminary injunction."
