Verification note. DIRECTION FLIP: in 2021 the CES replaced the Trump-era 'Ban Transgender People in the Military' row with 'Allow Transgender People in the Military', so 2021 support is the mirror image of the 2017-2020 series. Wording copied verbatim from CES21_Common_Questions.pdf (grid CC21_355, row CC21_355d). Percentages computed by this agent from CES21_Common_OUTPUT.tab (n=25,700) using the released weight commonweight. Field dates derived from starttime/endtime in the microdata. This is also the year the CES replaced the old 'ever undergone any part of a process' item with a direct 'Do you identify as transgender?' question.

neutral — plain policy label; the analytically important issue is the direction flip, not slanted wording
