Verification note. Five-category distribution taken from Gallup's own trend table (Datawrapper chart apodF), dataset.csv downloaded this session: 2024 Jan 2-22 = 8 very satisfied / 28 somewhat satisfied / 21 somewhat dissatisfied / 27 very dissatisfied / 16 no opinion. The 36% combined-satisfied figure is independently stated in the Gallup release of Feb. 5, 2024, which notes this was one of 'two items not previously asked -- the effect technology is having on society (44%) and the acceptance of transgender people (36%)' and that there was no partisan difference on it. Field dates and n are from that release's Survey Methods statement. Gallup publishes no party crosstab for the item. || Wording, base and the full demographic crosstab were read this session from Gallup's own January 2024 satisfaction topline and tabs PDF (news.gallup.com/file/poll/610982/20240222_IssueSatisfactions.pdf), item X, 'The acceptance of transgender people in the nation', 'BASED ON ~506~ NATIONAL ADULTS IN FORM B', 2024 Jan 2-22 = 8 very satisfied / 28 somewhat satisfied / 21 somewhat dissatisfied / 27 very dissatisfied, total satisfied 36 / total dissatisfied 48. Crosstab table Q16X was re-extracted with fixed-pitch layout so the columns resolve cleanly, and every column was checked by summing its six response categories to 99-102 before recording. The numbers agree with Gallup's Datawrapper trend table apodF, which collapses Don't know and Refused into a single 16% 'no opinion'. The partisan pattern is the analytically important part and confirms the release's claim of 'no partisan difference': total satisfied is 32% among Republicans, 37% among independents and 38% among Democrats -- three groups that plainly do not mean the same thing by it.

Wording notes: asked of a random half sample of the January Mood of the Nation sample | satisfaction framing collapses two opposite reasons for dissatisfaction (wanting more acceptance and wanting less) into a single 'dissatisfied' response, which Gallup itself disentangles only with the 2026 follow-up | explicit don't-know escape offered in the stem
unclear — The stem is neutral, but the response scale is directionally ambiguous for this subject: a respondent who wants far less acceptance of transgender people and a respondent who wants far more both record as 'dissatisfied.' Gallup's own 2026 follow-up exists precisely because the headline number cannot be read as support or opposition.
