Sources

Verification note. Full 24-page Reuters/Ipsos topline retrieved and text-extracted. THIS IS THE ORIGINATING FIELDING of the TM2062Y21 trans battery - the item codes carry the Y21 suffix because they were first asked here, in June 2021, and the identical wording was then re-fielded in April 2022, March 2023 and (as TM3212Y24) February 2025. Establishing this baseline was a specific gap in the earlier records and is now closed. Note that the trans items appear here as items 27_1 through 27_3, buried in a poll whose published writeup is entirely about the size of government and says nothing about transgender issues - Ipsos fielded them without reporting them. FRAME CAUTION: online opt-in / river sample; credibility interval, not margin of error.

banning doctors from providing transition-related treatment to minors

To what extent do you agree or disagree with the following statements?

To what extent do you agree or disagree with the following statements? - Doctors should be banned from providing transgender minors with treatments that help change their physical characteristics to better resemble their gender identity.

Agree 46%38% Disagree

Wording notes: agree/disagree format with restrictive polarity - acquiescence bias runs toward the ban | describes the care by its bodily effect rather than by name and does not distinguish reversible from irreversible interventions | this is the baseline fielding of the wording later repeated in 2022 and 2023

tilts_restrictive — Same construction flaws as the later fieldings: acquiescence and restrictive polarity point the same way, and the description foregrounds physical alteration. Its value is as the fixed-wording baseline - 46% agreed in June 2021, 46% again in April 2022, then 55% in March 2023. The jump happened in the 2022-23 legislative wave, not before it.

transgender girls in women's sports

To what extent do you agree or disagree with the following statements?

To what extent do you agree or disagree with the following statements? - Transgender girls should be allowed to participate in women's sports.

Agree 38%46% Disagree

Wording notes: no level of competition specified | category mismatch between 'transgender girls' and 'women's sports' | baseline fielding of the wording later repeated in 2022, 2023 and 2025

neutral — Neutral wording, paired with its mirror item. As the earliest point in this series it anchors the trend: agreement fell from 38% in June 2021 to 35% in April 2022, 32% in March 2023 and 21% by February 2025, while strong disagreement rose from 34% to 51%. That is one of the clearest restrictive shifts documented on constant wording anywhere in this corpus, though the 2025 fielding moved to KnowledgePanel and is not mode-comparable.

neutral — Neutrally worded mirror. The trans-girls / trans-boys gap is present from the very first fielding: 34% strongly disagree for trans girls versus 28% for trans boys in June 2021, and the gap persists across every subsequent fielding of the pair.
