Verification note. RESOLVED. The PPIC publication page returns 403 to the fetch tool but is served normally to curl with a browser user agent; the full report, including the Questions and Responses appendix and the complete methodology section, was retrieved that way. CONFIRMED: verbatim item wording (question 68, rotated with question 67), the full four-point distribution plus don't know, the 65 percent adult and 71 percent public-school-parent net support figures, and the party breaks (49 percent Democrats, 91 percent Republicans, 71 percent independents). Methodology now fully documented: 1,591 California adults, Ipsos KnowledgePanel probability panel, English and Spanish, 55 percent response rate, sampling error 3.1 points. DATE CORRECTION: the original row carried 2025-03-01 to 2025-04-30; the true field window is March 27 - April 4, 2025. NOT CONFIRMED: the previously stored '64 percent of likely voters' figure does not appear anywhere in the PPIC report text - the report gives only the all-adult distribution, the public-school-parent figure and the party breaks for this item - so it has been dropped rather than carried forward. A future attempt wanting the likely-voter column should look for PPIC's separate detailed crosstab tables for this survey.

Questions asked (1)

Sports4-point scalein a trend series
support for the federal executive order requiring transgender athletes to compete on birth-sex teams

To what extent do you support or oppose the following policies? [rotate questions 67 and 68]

Requiring that transgender athletes compete on teams that match the sex they were assigned at birth, not the gender they identify with

Support 65%33% Oppose

Wording notes: asked immediately after an item on closing the US Department of Education, rotated with it | policy stated only in the restrictive direction, with support/oppose the response dimension | uses 'the sex they were assigned at birth'

neutral — single-sided policy statement, which is standard for a support/oppose battery; the alternative is stated inside the item ('not the gender they identify with') and the scale is symmetric with an explicit don't know
