Base notes
Pooled annual AVA dataset: 20,603 Ipsos KnowledgePanel respondents plus 2,381 recruited by Ipsos from opt-in panels to raise small-state sample sizes. An aggregation of the 2022 monthly waves rather than a single fielding; PRRI's 50-state estimates and party breaks are published off the pooled file. Note that PRRI's own methodology paragraph in this topline mistypes the fielding year as 2021; the cover page and trend labels give March 11 - December 14, 2022.

Questions asked (1)

Nondiscriminationfavor/opposein a trend series
LGBT nondiscrimination protections in jobs, public accommodations and housing (item explicitly names transgender people)

Q12. Do you favor or oppose each of the following?

Laws that would protect gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people against discrimination in jobs, public accommodations, and housing.

Favor 48%11% Oppose
Favor 32%Favor (net) 80%

Wording notes: bundles transgender people with gay, lesbian and bisexual people in one item | three policy domains combined in one question (jobs, public accommodations, housing)

neutral — symmetric favor/oppose scale, no loaded terms; the design limitation is that it is double-barreled across three policy domains and four identity groups, so transgender-specific support cannot be isolated
