Sources

Verification note. Wording and percentages read directly from the Siena College Research Institute crosstab PDF for the August 20-28, 2023 wave (Q22, Q23). Only the Total, PartyID, Governor-Vote and Gender columns are recorded: the PDF also carries Region, Ethnicity, Age, Education and Income columns, but the fixed-width text extraction interleaved stray values in those columns and they could not be read with confidence. Note also a source discrepancy: the crosstab header says '650 Mississippi Likely Voters' while the Mississippi Today footnote describes '650 registered voters'; the crosstab is followed here.

Not at all serious
12%
Not very serious

Don't know/Refused

Total Serious (net) 70%Total Not Serious (net) 23%

Wording notes: presupposes the topic is a 'problem' and asks only how serious | no option to say it is not a problem at all other than 'not at all serious' | uses 'girls' sports' rather than 'women's sports' or 'sports teams'

tilts_restrictive — The stem asks 'how serious a problem' rather than whether it is a problem, which presupposes a problem exists and pushes respondents onto a severity scale; that construction generally inflates concern relative to a neutral is-this-a-problem item.
