Verification note. Wording, methodology paragraph and all percentages read directly from SurveyUSA's released crosstab PDF (GUID a08c374b), extracted with word-level x-coordinates so the party and ideology columns could be aligned. The 45% approve / 43% disapprove headline in SurveyUSA's own summary paragraph matches the sum of the two approve and the two disapprove rows recorded here, which is a useful internal check on the column alignment.

Questions asked (1)

Youth medical careapprove/disapprove
Minnesota's 2023 'trans refuge' law protecting access to gender-affirming health care, including for minors

Asked as part of a battery of items on bills signed or debated in the 2023 Minnesota legislative session (background checks, red flag, cannabis, paid family leave, conversion therapy ban, tax items).

Governor Walz signed into law a bill protecting access to "gender-affirming" health care in Minnesota, including for minor children. Do you approve or disapprove of this bill?

Approve 45%43% Disapprove

Wording notes: places 'gender-affirming' in scare quotes | attributes the bill to Governor Walz by name | explicitly flags 'including for minor children'

loaded_terms — Two features push the item rather than measure it neutrally: the pollster's own quotation marks around "gender-affirming" signal that the term is contested, and the appended clause 'including for minor children' foregrounds the most contested application before the respondent answers. Naming the governor also invites a partisan cue rather than a policy judgment. None of this is hidden, and the four-point symmetric scale is fair.
